Gramma produce talking books, audio books and other audio recordings, we also proofread talking books/audio books as well as traditional proofing of text and scanned material, anything from commercial text, manuscripts, new paper texts, university papers or webpages.

Talking books/Audio books/DAISY
Since 2001 we have produced literally thousands of DAISY talking books. Mainly in Swedish and English, but also in Spanish, French, German, Finnish, Danish, Norwegian, as well as in Japanese, Arabic, Meänkieli etc. All with native speakers. Titles ranging from short children’s books to university level Chemistry.
Since we have been producing DAISY from the beginning of the DAISY standard we have acquired wast technical and practical competence that is useful also for audio book production. We also make the “multimedia” DAISY books, where text and audio is synced and can be played at the same time.

A DAISY book:
- can contain up to 50 hours of playback time on a single CD
- is easier to search and navigate in than a “normal” book, allowing text search and navigation via words, lines, paragraphs, pages, headings
- can be listened to at different speeds

Proofreading
Our proofreading is divided into three parts: printed texts, audio (DAISY/audio books), and scanned text (for e-text, full text DAISY, synthetic speech etc.). Our customers are government agencies, advertisement agencies, magazines, publishers etc.

Proofreading recorded material for talking books adds several aspects to classic text based proofreading. It involves making sure that e.g. academic literature is adapted correctly, and according to different guidelines, making sure the talking book becomes the best possible interpretation of the printed book for a reading impaired student, with adequate editing and descriptions of images and figures etc. Pronunciation, reading style and tempo, audio quality etc. are other aspects of the audio based proofreading.
